Well there is help!  Two doctors at Penn State have developed an iPhone app called “Caffeine Zone” that tracks the amount of caffeine your body is storing to ensure you are optimally buzzed.

Little did I know there was this kind of help to optimize my mental efficiency.  It seems that one can get more done when caffeine levels hover between 200 and 400 mg.  Fall below 100 and, well, let’s just say the snoring might keep your co-workers awake….

Storing the proper amount of caffeine in your system is important, apparently, but don’t you wish there was an app to help in storing all that office paraphernalia and information we need to do our jobs.  Whether it’s paper document storage, secure storage or point of use storage how does one make certain space is being optimized?  Or, how can I be sure I can get to the item or information when I need it? 

In the same way that balancing caffeine levels in the blood improves alertness, balancing storage and access of material or information improves efficiency and therefore productivity and cost.  In other words, don’t just think about how to store more items and files, but keep in mind that someone is eventually going to have to find those items and files later.
