In 1989, Mike and Karen McDivitt founded their very first personal injury practice in Colorado Springs. Mike was the firm’s sole attorney and Karen managed the firm’s marketing efforts. With the help of their two children, David and Lisa, the family launched a law firm built on the foundations of dedicated client service and aggressive representation.
As McDivitt Law Firm has grown, so did the firm's family. They added two additional office locations in Denver and Pueblo, serving thousands of clients across Colorado, with more than 77 staff members and 19 attorneys. David McDivitt is now Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at the firm, and Dr. Karen McDivitt is now the Secretary/Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer. She’s also the Director of Outreach our very own community service and awareness program, McDivitt Makes a Difference.
Improve Group was contacted by Karen McDivitt in 2007. They needed additional physical storage. David was just coming aboard from working as a Deputy Colorado State Public Defender and was starting to be involved in the running of the firm. Over the next couple of years, IG provided physical storage through Spacesaver. Over time, Rick would ask questions about their overall processes. On one particular visit, Rick was measuring for a Spacesaver unit and noticed the bar codes, so he mentioned to David that they could take this process to the next level. David was very interested and they talked for over an hour about the possibilities. Rick explained to them that the proposed solution of around $150,000 or so, was a band aid approach and that they would be doing this again in 5 years. Rick sent David the National Travel System profile.
Even with these tools, McDivitt still saw IG as the shelving people and it took time for him to see us as a company that could partner with their firm to improve their overall processes. Rick was persistent in explaining that IG had started with records in the 70’s and that IG had grown with technology over time. With time, David grabbed the vision and made it his own.
The result has been a proprietary system designed by Jeffrey Cox from our Professional Services team for McDivitt. As McDivitt continues to grow, we will be growing with them, it's their law firm….improved.
