Solution: Realistic Training Environments
Air Force Special Warfare Training Range
- Location: Albuquerque, NM
- Size: 18 acres
What if the First Time You Ever Had To Take the Shot Was When You Were Being Shot At?
The Air Force Special Warfare Training Squadron recognized the need to provide more realistic weapons and tactics training in a live-fire environment. Its existing range did not offer technology-aided targeting, realistic scenarios, or move and communicate environments, all of which are key training functions that ensure operational readiness.
To address these needs, the first-of-its-kind ACTION Training Range was built. Its realistic and tactical nature provides innovative and effective weapons training to advance the lethality, survivability, and readiness of its students.
And the best part? The entire space was designed and constructed in less than a year by utilizing Inverse’s integrated Omega Construction Process.
The innovative prototype approach enabled by the OTA procurement pathway was critical to the success of this project and to the advancement of the outcomes. These results could not have been achieved via traditional contacting methods.
The OTA process allowed for faster implementation of the specific requirements of the instructors. In normal construction projects, the time between design and implementation is so long that when implementation happens, there are oftentimes different instructors and requirements. The collaborative nature of the OTA allowed instructors and other subject matter experts to be embedded within the design team, enabling the range to meet their specific requirements.
Tour the range
The ACTION Range consists of a 50m flat range and a shoot, move, communicate range. The flat range was designed for qualification, marksmanship, and fundamental movement and tactics.
The first-of-its-kind SMC range significantly increases the real-world scenario simulation and student competency with tactical firing and movement.
